Frequently Asked Questions
How precise is the trimming?
The trimmer uses the Web Audio API, which operates at sample-level precision. For most use cases, this is more accurate than you need.
Will the audio quality be affected?
When outputting to WAV, there is no quality loss — the trimmed region is extracted without re-encoding. MP3 output involves re-encoding at the selected bitrate.
What do fade in/fade out do?
Fade in gradually increases volume at the start of your clip; fade out gradually decreases it at the end. Both transitions are 0.5 seconds long and prevent abrupt audio cuts.
Is there a file size limit?
No server-side limit — your browser memory is the practical ceiling. Files up to several hundred megabytes work fine on most modern devices.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I trim to an exact timestamp?
You can type exact start and end times directly into the time fields, or drag the waveform handles for a visual selection. The preview plays your selected range so you can verify before downloading.
Can I add fade in and fade out?
Yes — enable the fade in and/or fade out options before downloading. The fade duration can be adjusted to suit your clip.
What happens to audio quality when trimming?
Trimming does not re-encode the audio unless you change the format. WAV output is lossless. OGG uses light compression. The audio content in your selected range is preserved exactly.
Can I trim multiple files?
The trimmer processes one file at a time. For batch trimming, a desktop application like Audacity is recommended.
Are my audio files uploaded to a server?
No. All trimming happens in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your files never leave your device.
